Credit unions
We have supported the British credit union movement for many years by working with the trade association ABCUL (Association of British Credit Unions Limited). This organisation supports the majority of credit unions in the country and continues to work with the Bank on projects to assist the development of sustainable credit unions in Britain.
Many credit unions enjoy our preferential banking facilities, choosing the Co-operative Bank as a bank at the heart of the wider co-operative movement.
The Bank, along with Co-operative Insurance and the Co-operative Group, have supported the launch and development of the Co-operative Family Credit Union. This credit union, set up in 1998, serves the workers and families of these three co-operative businesses in the Greater Manchester area.
